점봉산은 해발 1,424m의 고산으로 강원도 인제군 귀둔리와 기린면 진동리를 경계하고 있다. 그동안 비교적 인적이 드물어 보존이 잘되고 다양한 동식물이 있어 1987년에 천연보호림으로 지정관리되고 있다. 금강소나무, 전나무, 신갈나무, 거제수, 물푸레, 들메나무가 혼효를 이루고 계곡의 맑은 물에는 천연기념물인 열목어와 산천어가 서식하고 있다. 희귀식물로는 금강초롱, 한계령풀, 모데미풀, 애기앉은부채가 있다.

(Mt. ) Jeombongsan is 1,424m high and extends to the boundaries of Guidun-ri, Inje-gun and Jindong-ri, Kirin-myeon in the Kangwon-do. The natural environment is well conserved with diverse wild flora and fauna due to little human disturbance so that this area was designated as the Natural Forest Reserve in 1987. There are mixed forests with species of Korean Red pine, Needle fir, Mongolian oak, Betula costata, Korean ash, Manchurian ash, and fish species of Brachymystax lenok and Oncorhynchus masou designated as Natural Mounments inhabit in the clear water of valleys. Also rare plant species including Hanabusaya asiatics, Leontice microrhyncha, Megaleranthis saniculifolia and Symplocapus nipponicus grow in this area.
