성인봉은 울릉군 북면 나리동에 위치한 해발 984m의 산으로 섬 중앙에 우뚝솟아 동해의 푸른 바다 가운데서 위용을 자랑한다. 성인봉은 속칭 상봉(上峰)이라고도 하며 그 정상에 서면 울창한 천연림을 관망할 수 있다. 이곳에는 그 누구도 묘를 쓰지 못하고 있는데, 묘를 쓰면 섬 전체에 비가 오지 않는 등 화를 면하기 어렵다는 전설이 있기 때문이라 한다. 구름과 안개속에 덮인 성인봉은 신비함을 더하고 통구미의 향나무를 비롯하여 다양한 희귀 동식물이 자생하고 있는 곳이기도 하다.
(Mt.)Seonginbong is sitting at the center of Ulnungdo(island) in Nari-dong, Buk-myeon, Ulnung-gun and could be viewed magnificently in the blue East Sea. From peak of Seonginbong also called as Sangbong, thick natural forests could be viewed. Within Seonginbong nobody could dig for a grave, because there is an old legend saying that a grave could bring various disasters into the island, including severe droughts and so on. When veiled by clouds and mists onginbong contains much more sense of mystery. Also there are various native species of rare plants and wildlives including Chinese juniper in Tonggumi.
